Winter is a really long season around here, so once spring rolls around, I'm all about bright colors and whimsical decor.
Especially when it comes to my front door.
It's painted black, and I love drama in my decorating.

Of course, I also enjoy mixing it up a bit.
That means traditional floral wreaths aren't always my first choice.
Over the years, I've used everything from garden flags to paper bags to dress my entryway.
Well, this year inspiration hit me at the dollar store.
Lately, they've really raised their game with the most adorable wooden cutouts and I've been smitten.
For Christmas, I used Santa to embellish a plain evergreen wreath.

While, he was very charming, I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about his ability to withstand the elements in my neck of the woods, but for $1.25 I was willing to risk it.
Spoiler alert. He (very shockingly) still looked perfect after more than a month on that uncovered front stoop.
So...when I saw this darling bunny sign, I grabbed it.
And the rest is history.

How To Make A Ribbon Wreath
Like most of my crafts, this one evolved based on what I had in my supply cabinet. The only thing I purchased for it, was the bunny sign itself.
However, other than the tools, all my supplies came from Dollar Tree at one point...and keep in mind, you can make this wreath for any season, with any round cutout or round stenciled sign.
Supplies for this particular wreath:
- Seasonal or patterned wooden round
- Ribbon-wired works best
- Wooden bead wreath
- White paper flowers
- Hot glue gun and sticks
- Scissors
- Pliers or metal snips
- Finger protectors
- Bowdabra

Next, I mocked up one loop of ribbon to see what size would look good on my sign. I simply folded small piece in half, and cut it.

To make sure all my pieces of ribbon would be uniform, I used the first piece as a template and cut out several pieces in both blue and pink.

I used two colors, you could use one or three...design is up to you.
When I had enough ribbon strips cut, I put on my finger protectors - game changer, by the way - and warmed up my glue gun.

Then I flipped the sign over and glued the ribbon, alternating colors, around the circle.

I left the bottom open, to make room for a large bow that I made with my favorite bow maker.
Again, I used two colors of ribbon, alternating each layer in the bow maker.

To remedy that, I grabbed an wooden bead wreath I had in my stash.

Since it was a bit too small to fit on the edge of the sign, I had to cut it open in order to stretch it.

Then I glued it in place.

And added a hanger with ribbon to the back of the sign to complete the job.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention, every bunny needs a cute tail, so I created one with a few paper flowers. Super simple.
When I was done, I had another Easter Bunny wreath ready to make a splash on my front door.

One that only cost me $1.25 to make, plus I was able to use up some of my old craft supplies.
Now, that's one helpful little bunny.
Who also helped me hop into spring with a burst of color.

And a little bit of unexpected flair.
Just the way I like it.

How are you hopping into spring?
