Good October Morning, Friends!
I hope you are all doing well on this brisk Saturday morning.
Well, brisk in my neck of the woods, anyway.
Today, we welcome a new month.
Calendar and Artist Shop Information |
Yes, I know I'm a bit behind, but it's been a busy two weeks.
I'm finally getting a chance to catch my breath.
So far, I witnessed the Northern Lights in my own backyard.
An extraordinary sight that I never thought I would see so close to home.
To say it was spectacular doesn't really do it justice.
Then, not really ready to let go of summer, we picked up and spent some time at the ocean.
It was a gloriously warm day that reminded me why I love my island so much.
And a Christmas shop...in the same afternoon.
In perfect harmony.
I was so taken with that idea, that I even took a short video.
Which got me thinking that there wasn't any real reason why I couldn't open my King Of Christmas box to see what treasure was hiding inside.
And {maybe} decorate a little.
Of course, that means my cottage is a tiny bit confused at the moment, with the living room partially dressed for Christmas.
Oh well, I guess that kind of mess is what happens when you live with a creative person. At least it's a beautiful mess. 😉
Speaking of beautiful, let's talk about these giveaways.
They come to us today, compliments of my friend and longtime reader, Terri. Years ago, I made rooster curtains and Terri was inspired to make her own.
Well, she no longer has a place for them so she sent them to me asking if I would like them or consider giving them away, since she herself won one of my giveaways years ago and remembers how fun it was to win.
Isn't that the loveliest thing you've ever heard?
So today, I have TWO giveaways and you can enter both.
The first is for 2 stunning handmade rooster valances, trimmed with a darling chicken wire fabric...there were 3 but I'm keeping one as a table runner!
The two for the giveaway each measure about 15" wide and 62" long.
You can enter here:
The second giveaway is for the fabric that she generously sent along, too.
It's a gorgeous array of rooster patterns and coordinating prints in different sizes. Enough for pillow covers, napkins, placemats, an apron...or to cover some glass cabinets.
Whatever your creativity commands.
You can enter here:
The giveaways will close at 2pm EST, Friday, October 18th and I'll email the winners.
Good luck!
As for me, I'm hoping to spend the rest of October crafting, decorating and baking for fall.
And maybe, occasionally wander past the arched doors into the living room to listen to Christmas music and hang out with Santa.
I mean if the Christmas shoppe can lean into both holidays at once, why can't I?
🎄🍂
Would you?
*Before you go, I'd like to take a moment, among all this merriment, to send my thoughts and prayers out to all those affected by the hurricanes.
I have family and friends in those areas. The firsthand stories and photos are just devastating and the heartbreak is truly overwhelming. So I'm sharing some information for those who'd like to help, but aren't sure how...♡
Be well, friends.
Could you share information about the calendar you often show in your posts? I love the art work so much. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue! Thanks for asking! Isn't it beautiful? I was a gift from my friend Kris at Junk Chic Cottage. Here is a link to the 2025 calendar and the artist's Etsy shop.
DeleteI also added it under the photo of the calendar. https://rstyle.me/+IPAlA2XwZXReS3xWKhuoPA
Thanks Kim - her Etsy shop is delightful.
DeleteMy pleasure...and I agree!
DeleteI love your house and your color pallett. I love colors in my home too. So many homes follow a neutral color scheme these days and I guess if that's what you like , but not me. My home is filled with color and way to many wreaths on the outside, inside on doors I even have wreaths I made on the bannister going upstairs. My living room and dining room are a beautiful gold my kitchen is maroon. I have pillows and wicker baskets aii over under furniture, filled with blankets and pillows for easy access on a cold football night. I could sure use those curtains in my kitchen, the color scheme would be perfect. Happy Fall my favorite season.
ReplyDeleteKim
Thank you so much, Kim, it's always nice to hear from another color lover! I just crave it in every room. I've tried to go neutral and it's never felt right. I need a pop and I, too, and pillows and throws and wreaths. Fall is such a cozy time, I say bring it on!!
DeleteHow sweet you are for offering giveaways! Hope you're having a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melanie! I hope you are having a lovely weekend, too...and some mild weather!!
DeleteWhy not decorate for both fall and Christmas??? In my tiny apartment, there is no room for a china cabinet (though I AM on tge lookout for just the top part to put my 32" tv on, using the bottom for my new collection of glassware...) but ample cabinet space, so removed the doors from the cabinets over the sink and fridge. Above the fridge, my red, green, and crystal glass pieces keep company with the rest of the open living area all decorated in glorious fall colors! Would definitely decorate a room in Christmas if I had one available! ...maybe the bathroom?? Lol!
ReplyDeleteAnd Christmas music is good all year!
Your glass display sounds just beautiful. I adore color and the deep fall and Christmas hues are the best. Oh, and a Christmas room sounds lovely! I remember when I was little there was a candle shop in town and upstairs they had a year round Christmas area. I would go there in the middle of summer and dream of Santa and candy canes!!
DeleteSuch a sweet giveaway. The photo of the Northern lights is truly beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy! It was a generous donation on Terri's part.
DeleteLike you life has been EXTREMELY BUSY (sometimes not in a good way). It has been awhile since I read my blogs, but I'm SO glad I decided to take the time tonight. Your already decorating for Christmas has helped me make a BIG decision. I am having knee replacement Nov. 8 (just had sinus surgery Sept. along with a LOT of other hectic things going on!!!), and I have been trying to decide whether to go ahead and decorate at least to some degree before my surgery! My husband loves Christmas decorations so he's all in, but I was hesitant. THANK YOU THANK YOU for helping me to get this decision checked off my LONG TO DO LIST!!! At least I will know one other person who's singing Jingle Bells before Thanksgiving:) And thanks too for the Giveaways...I love roosters and have some decorating my kitchen. In fact, our little town is known for our chickens that roam the streets...even the middle of downtown!
ReplyDeleteWell, your comment just made my day!! I'm not happy to hear about your surgery, but if my post brought you some measure of comfort knowing that we'll both be early decorators, then I'm glad! It also made me giggle thinking about singing Jingle Bells before Thanksgiving. I totally will be...I seem to do that every year. For some reason, while I don't decorate that early, but the Christmas carols are on repeat right after Halloween!!
DeleteLove that darling vintage-looking Santa on the mantle!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! He really is darling. They don't make them like that anymore.
DeleteYou've been having a good time in the first days of October. I saw the Northern lights too, but not really bright. You make me laugh with yoru comments of Fall in one room, Christmas in the next. But it's all good! And just think how ahead you'll be when it's time to decorate for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing the giveaways. I didn't enter because I don't sew and the curtains wouldn't fit in my windows, but so sweet!
We did have fun at the beginning of the month, Mari! Having the kids at home and all together was a real treat. They laughed at the crazy mixed up decorations, but like you said, it's all good especially now with all the Christmas decorations going up in the stores! I even bought a Santa at Hobby Lobby today!! 🎅🏻
DeleteHi, the Northern Lights have been amazing all summer and now again in autumn. We have enjoyed seeing them too. What a gift in the night sky!
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed our pumpkin carving party yesterday, I hope to blog about it soon.
Love, Carla
How lucky you are to have been able to see them more than once! We've heard they were around this summer, but anytime we tried to catch them it was cloudy or maybe we were just in the wrong spot!! Happy Weekend!!
DeleteI didn’t get an opportunity to see the Northern Lights but I hope they stick around so I get a chance! I’ve never seen so many pumpkins all in one place they are spectacular! I think it’s perfectly fine to have a split personality decor lol. It’s fun to go with the flow and throw out the ‘rule book’.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to see them someday, Sara! It was truly beautiful. We'd try to see them a few times before without luck, so this was a treat. Weren't those pumpkin neat? I have to say, there were so many unusual ones and they were displayed so nicely, I wanted to take them all home!! Haha!!
DeleteOh my, those Northern lights look amazing. It's been on my bucket list for the longest time. Enjoy your happy, slightly spooky, festively thankful home, Kim. As long as it makes you smile that's all that matters <3
ReplyDeleteTalking about smiles, I hope our very small donations to CARE helps someone a little. Watching the hurricanes roll over your country is scary, I can't even begin to imagine what it's like being there for real. Stay safe
The Northern Lights truly were lovely, Michelle and a total treat. I never thought I'd see them. I hope one day you get a chance to see them as well. It's very generous of you to send help to those in need. There are just so many and I'm sure every bit does help!
