It's no secret that I love summer.
I'm an islander, I live in a beach cottage a few blocks from the sea.
So it just makes sense...summer is best at the beach.
However, for some odd reason, this year, for the first time ever, I'm not really all that upset about the end of the season. In fact, I'm slightly confused, because I find myself looking a bit forward to fall.
And I have no idea why.
June, July and August were lovely.
Sunny and filled with all the usual summertime activities.
But last night, when we left the house, I needed a sweater.
I don't know, maybe I ready for a little cozy house time.
I know it came as a shock to many of you when I posted that I removed the family room wallpaper, but believe it or not just about every room in the house was in disarray because of those flowers.
So many updates were put on hold, as I tried to get that one room straightened out.
You see in a cottage, all the rooms are intimately tied together, so if the flow is off in one space...well...you understand.
However. Now that it's been removed, I feel like I have my decorating mojo back. I've found my style muse and I'm excited to get moving, creating spaces I can't wait to hang out in.
Craft in.
Read in.
Bake in.
And cuddle in.
So I say, bring on fall...I even bought some pumpkins.
Who is this girl? Am I growing?
Perhaps.
In any case, to prove my new found enthusiasm for this upcoming season, I'm celebrating with monthly giveaways, starting with September.
I'm giving away 3 decorating books I picked up at a second hand shop a few months ago.
They're in perfect condition and so much fun to leaf through.
I'll pick three winners, each of whom will receive one of the books at random.
You can can enter below.
This weekend, I painted a few more treasures, since the family room is a blank slate.
My bedroom is also getting a few teeny updates, inspired by the new headboard and chandelier.
Plus, I may have a couple of projects to unveil as I freshen up the living room.
And the hallway.
Believe it or not, I've already received some holiday treasure from King of Christmas. Last year, they sent me the most gorgeous flocked tree, but my daughter adopted it when she moved out.
You can see my tree on Instagram here if you like.
This year I went for something different...here's a sneak peek.
Clearly, I'm getting a jump on winter, too.
See...I told you I was excited for this new season...
Ok...well, now I might just be getting a little bit carried away.
Don't forget to enter the giveaway.
And pop back tomorrow when I plan to share my latest thrift store finds.
It was a major haul!!
This Giveaway Is Now Closed. Winners Have Been Notified.
Happy September, Friends!
