Well, hello September!
My goodness that was quick. Does summer get shorter every year?
I seriously think it does.
That's ok, though, I'm firmly entrenched in summer mode until I'm forced to put those pumpkins out, sometime after the 23rd.
However, once fall officially arrives, I'm all in.
As a matter of fact, I cleaned out my thrift stash yesterday and I have a list as long as my arm of crafty fall projects to share.
I can't wait!!
In the meantime, let's peek back at my favorite shares from the blog in August.
- I had tons of fun showing you my latest thrift shop finds
- I made over one of the pieces with rice paper
- I updated some old rooster paintings instead of donating them
- I shared a story about making memories
- I replaced my sink sprayer...apparently a very popular topic!
- And I put up a new shelf in the kitchen...unexpected and gorgeous
I also started a new Facebook group all about thrift store home decor. If that's your jam, I hope you'll join and share your finds, DIYs and stories with us. The more the merrier!
My mailbox was very full this month, too.
When my new plates went on sale, I bought another set.
I also picked up these roosters on Etsy. I'm a dish addict.
If you or anyone you know have a few to sell, give me a holler!
Another package contained the softest rug runner for my hallway. Or my kitchen.
I haven't decided where it's going to live yet, but it's so pretty, I might have to get more.
There was a copy of KariAnne Wood's newest book, 10-Minute Decorating Ideas on my doorstep, as well. Isn't it darling?
Have you entered my giveaway for a chance to win a copy and a $50 Amazon gift card?
There's still time.
Let's see, other than that we've been watching a lot of old black and white movies. I love the late 30s and 1940s flicks the best. One of my favorites is called Random Harvest. It stars Ronald Coleman, who has an enchanting voice, and the beautiful Greer Garson, who could be my mother in law's twin.
I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I watched it more than once (a week) this month.
It's a bit of a far fetched romance, but if you go with it, it's easy to get swept up in the drama.
Our garden is finally ripening up and we've been eating a ton of cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. We chop them up and dress them with balsamic vinegar.
As for the rest of this long weekend, we'll be hanging out at the beach, soaking in whatever summer weather Mother Nature is willing to toss our way.
Because even though summer doesn't officially end for a few more weeks, she doesn't always see it that way.
What's on your late summer agenda?
Happy weekend, friends!
I agree, Summer goes quicker each year. It's supposed to be quite warm here this week and I'll be soaking it up!
ReplyDeleteQuicker each year, Mari! I agree...sadly. We were also soaking up the warm temps, I hope you enjoyed the sun!!
DeleteGood Morning and Happy Labor Day. Summer has flown by. I am finally getting into thinking about fall. I agree with you it seems each year summer flies by faster. Have a great holiday weekend. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteIt went too fast, Kris! We did have a lovely few days of warmth and beach/ pools days during and after Labor Day. I think that helped to ease the transition into fall...which I am still not super thrilled about, but it is what it is!! Hugs to you sweet friend!
DeleteThe Belgian Rose pattern is lovely. Have you tried using Replacements "Find this for me" function? I've used it a couple of times successfully.
ReplyDeleteI have Pat. Thanks for the tip. They currently only have the roosters. I did hit that "notify me" button though...maybe someone will turn them in and I can scoop them up first!!
DeleteNot too many fun items to finish up for the summer - its been 100 degrees plus here for so long that I just finally gave in and decorated for Fall. I figured it would be fun and I would love looking at it and I was right!
ReplyDeleteOver 100 is brutal Gina. I think I'd be ready for fall after a long string of those days, too. I bet your fall decor is lovely...and if it makes you smile that's all that matters!
DeleteI'm also a summer gal - but this summer has been so hot and dry (I split my time between our Texas and Arizona homes) that I'm ready to embrace fall. Our fall weather is usually quite beautiful, I just don't like the shorter days :-) Random Harvest is a favorite movie of mine. I don't expect any realism in those old movies, I just enjoy the escapism (and the clothes, lol!). I like those rooster plates, I'm a sucker for all things chicken/rooster :-)
ReplyDeleteFall is beautiful and I’m sure after all those triple digits in summer, you’re ready for cooler days. Our summers are just super short, fall is lovely and winter is even nice until mid-January, but after that I’m done. Unfortunately, the snow still shows up until April and that’s too long for me! As for Random Harvest, it's a great flick and yes, the clothes in all those movies are just dreamy. I often tell my husband I think I was born in the wrong era! Enjoy the weekend and thanks comment. It’s always nice to chat!!
DeleteA great recap of everything you did in August...We may have our first official heat wave this week which for our area is 3 days of over 90 degree temps. Humidity will be in the tropical category and I will be in the house with the air conditioning blaring as i take down my late Summer decor to prepare for Fall ...after all, Meteorological Fall started on September1st..It never fails though that high temps. hit when the kids go back to school after labor Day here...I hope you are having a great Labor Day weekend!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Deb
We had our first real heat wave of summer during that same week, Debbie and it was glorious. We were at the ocean on vacation and the weather for that was just right! Thankfully we also dodged hurricane Lee. Although he did bring us some very cool temps and a lot of rain and wind. Oh well, it is almost fall!! Thanks for the visit!!
DeleteI love how you go over the week showing again what you've done everyday! Ohhhh those dishes are to die for! I'm a dish freak!!! Are they Belgian Rose dishes? Or as you printed Belgium Rose? I've been keeping busy blogging since my return. I'm enjoying it! I also joined your FaceBook group...for more fun. Have a wonderful week!!
ReplyDeleteJan, good catch! They are Belgian Rose dishes. My Macbook loves to correct me and sometimes I don't catch it. Thanks for pointing it out...I am off to correct it now!
DeleteFound a Country Living Belgian Rose covered bowl on ebay. I've had pretty good luck looking for china on that site. My grandmother had dishes that I loved and my husband bought me the complete service for 12 as a Christmas present a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to the bowl:

Hi - does that skinny sofa table/shelf with legs have a name or did you cut down a full size one?? Thanks
ReplyDeleteHi there, I purchased the table on Amazon, it was custom made to my size specs and yes it only has two legs. It was super reasonable for custom, too. Here's the link:https://amzn.to/3sz9Vn3 Hope that helps!
DeleteI could eat cucumbers every day, Kim!
ReplyDeleteHappy Labor day! 🇺🇸
So could I, Kitty!! They're very refreshing!!
DeleteKim I have been in Summer mode too long now. I’m ready for fall. That runner is so pretty. I can definitely see it in my house.
ReplyDeleteSummer is my all time favorite season...long days in the pool and at the beach, the fun fashions and warm nights. However. I too am getting ready for a few fall activities. It's unusual for me, I guess it's been an action packed few months...I need to rest!! Haha!!
DeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteI agree Summer has flown by... and it went even faster after Sam returned home from deployment.
We have been in a drought all summer and we are on the edge of being considered in extreme drought, just on the edge of Polk County. So that has been no fun.. but I soaked up every minute of the sun that I could while watering and watering some more and some more. Ha. In all honesty, my flowers struggled, but I got creative and was able to keep my little flower shack open a few times a week.
Happy Labor Day!
Summer has flown by, I know you were waiting for it with bated breath for months. I'm sure the days with Sam have been enjoyable, but fast as well. Hopefully, he'll be sticking a little bit closer to home for the next few months. Fingers crossed!!
DeleteI really like those rooster plates and the pretty runner!
ReplyDeleteIt's still hot here - in the 90's. But so dry. I don't mind the heat when it's not humid. Though I know we desperately need rain.
It's been a quiet Labor Day weekend here, which is just fine with me. We grilled enough last night to where we have leftovers for tonight, so I don't have to cook. I also made a couple of salads and we'll have more of those, too.
Thanks Melanie! Those rooster plates are my favorite virtual thrift find. Shopping online can be dangerous, there are so many tempting items out there, but when you hit it right, it's worth the purchase!
DeleteNice recap of August Kim. The dishes are lovely. We had rain the last two days, yea! This week is suppose to warm up again. Happy September.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda! We've had a bunch of hot and cold days, too. I'm trying to enjoy the warmth while it lasts!! Happy September!
DeleteWe've had such a long, hot and humid summer and it's not over yet. We're heading into another heat wave. But there are early signs of autumn, shorter days, cooler nights, and I'm getting excited for the new season. I've enjoying catching up on your August, Kim, as I've not been able to keep up with my blogging in recent months, your home looks so lovely! I have so many plans for the coming weeks, can't wait.
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
Thanks for the visit, Amalia! Summer has been super busy over here, too. I'm just catching up with everything blogging now, a few days before fall officially begins. I hope your summer temps give you a break soon and you can enjoy the cooler days and nights!!
DeleteSummer has flown by oh so quickly here! Love your picture of the beach! So many wonderful things happen in summertime, and its sad to see them end! Love the dishes you found, they are perfect for you! Happy September!
ReplyDeleteHi Marilyn! I'm sad to see summer go, too, but fall is my second favorite season, so I'm looking forward to digging in and finding some happy, inside and outside moments! Thanks for popping by and Happy September to you, too!!
DeleteWhooooo, hoooo, it's September which means Spring is here in all her new glory. Love your plates and that little rug. We've been so busy at work I haven't had time to visit all my favourite blogs so I'm madly catching up on all your news.
ReplyDeleteI know you love summer like I love summer, Michelle! I hope that you are having a lot of warm and sunshine filled days! Thanks for the visit., I really appreciate it and trust me, I'm really behind, too!!
DeleteHere in England the weather can`t make it`s mind up about anything one day it`s boiling hot the next it`s cold and raining cats and dogs, next month is my Favourite month I love October, with thay Autumn smell in the air and all the trees turning brilliant reds and orange
ReplyDeleteIt's been super hot here all of sudden, Marilyn. Our late summer weather is unpredictable, too. Summer is my favorite season, but fall is a close second, with October being the highlight. You know pumpkin picking and hot cocoa with homemade whipped cream...yum!!
