If you're looking for the quickest and easiest way to decorate candles and glassware, why not try stickers. They take seconds to apply and look great!
While it's not my favorite month there are few things to adore about it.
And they all revolve around LOVE.
There's Valentine's Day of course.
My anniversary.
And romantic Lincoln's Birthday. No?
Well, it's the day I said I Do to my beloved, so it makes it romantic around here.
The snow, the cold and the seemingly never ending gray skies, yeah, I could do without that trio.
But the hearts and flowers? I'm all in.
Before I started sharing my creations online, however, I never really decorated for Valentine's Day. As a matter of fact, we rarely celebrated the holiday in any big way.
It's an expensive day to dine out or travel. And I'd rather spend my dough on thrift store decor. 😉
Of course now, a decade of blogging later, I love to decorate when cupid is on the horizon. Maybe it has something to do with all that red.
Or maybe there are just so many ways to get crafty.
Let's see what have I made? I've even decorated Valentine cupcakes. Which is big for me, since cooking isn't really my thing.
I do like setting a pretty table though.
So when I saw these stickers made for glass, at the dollar store, I grabbed them. I knew I could do something fun with them to distract myself from those February skies.
First up, I decided it to add the large heart to an electric candle.
It was simple a matter of peel and stick. It wasn't the greatest candle, it was also from the dollar store, so it doesn't light up very well and frankly it was a bit scratched and dinged up.
If you want great electric candles, these are my absolute favorite pillars and my go to tapers.
This one looks nice enough in the hallway though.
And in the center of my dining table, where it can join the party.
Because every good celebration needs some fun glasses. I've made them before using rub on transfers, also from the dollar store.
All I did, was peel the stickers away from the backing paper, center them on a clean, dry wine glass and press.
Done.
Two in 10 seconds.
They looked amazing, surrounded my floral plates and budding tulips.
They wore really well, too. They didn't slip or budge the entire night.
And when it was time to wash them, I just peeled the stickers off and popped them into the dishwasher.
Could I have hand washed the glasses with the stickers on them?
Yes, I definitely could have and they would've stayed in place for a couple of washings for a second or third use.
No, they don't have the same staying power as those custom etched glasses you can get online. But for a quick and cheap way to spice up your table, I think they're lovely.
A little festive spice when you need it and gone when you don't.
Fabulous.
Especially in February.
♡
What do you celebrate this month?
Cheers!
Very cute! Happy Anniversary and Happy Valentine's Day! My anniversary is this month too! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you, too, Susan!! xoxo
DeleteYou have really opened up a door for me with all the decals/stickers/transfers you use. This was something I had never even considered before, but your posts are stirring the creative pot...inside my head! I'm not really big on decorating for Valentine's Day, and just last week, I told Sailor we should just overlook Valentine's Day. (Overspend on cards and flowers? Get bad service at an overly crowded restaurant?) We just had our wedding anniversary in late January; and in my book, Valentine's Day could be every day! Thank you for the inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Kristine, Valentine's Day could be every day! And maybe it should be, let's show the love 24/7! 😉 I'm so glad that you like the transfer/ sticker ideas. I had never used them before and then Dixie Belle sent me a bunch and I started playing with them and wow, so easy to use. Now I'm in a bit of transfer crafting boom, but hey, they're free and they really work on everything! I hope you make something soon!
DeleteVery cute idea. I never see these stickers at our dollar store. I have used something like these before. Taking them off and saving them is the best.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary month.
Great idea to save them! You are so right Linda, I’m going to add that to my post and credit you. SUPER suggestion!
DeleteHappy Anniversary!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all your ideas with the stickers and glassware. With my floral business, I have so many cute jars, glasses and vases given to me, I really could add some fun to them.
Carla
Thanks Carla! Your flowers are so pretty, I'm sure your vases don't need any extras...but they really are fun to play with. Happy Weekend!
DeleteYou just have to love a quick and easy DIY craft project....especially if it's from the dollar tree! You always have the cutest ideas!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Dena! Quick and easy is the name of my game, for sure!
DeleteThese are just perfect for the busy creative. So many possibilities. Happy Anniversary Kim!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Maria!! They really are quick and easy to use...no fuss.
DeleteThose are really cute! I only go into the Dollar Tree when I need greeting cards or disposable food pans if I'm making someone else a meal, but next time I go in, I'm going to see if my store carries these!
ReplyDeleteI really don't go that often either, Melanie, but when I'm there I tend to hit every aisle to see what they have. The do have really good greeting cards though! Happy Weekend!
DeleteKim, I agree with you. I always do a sweet dinner at home and decorate the table. We give each other cards. I am big on making my own cards. I rather have flowers for no reason. Happy anniversary to you and your hubby.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Tammy...and there is nothing better than a dinner at home, with a pretty table and your Valentine! Enjoy!!
DeleteI am celebrating nothing this month in particular, but now I have made a mental note to go check out stickers at DT, thankyouverymuch! I will be "on call" for work on Tuesday, so Valentine's Day will just be a day. But HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Gina! If you try the stickers let me know. I'd love to see what you create.
DeleteHappy Anniversary. These stickers are really cute. Have a good Sunday. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteThanks Kris!! I hope you are having a great week! Hugs!
DeleteHave a happy anniversary Kim. I love the idea of using stickers on glasses. The stickers really dress up a glass. Have a happy Valentine's Day too.

DeleteMan oh man, I’m gonna be looking for those stickers at the Dollar Tree, Kim!!
ReplyDeleteMe too, Kitty, picking them up for any holiday they stock!
DeleteGreat idea, Kim. To me the best part is that they can be peeled off when done. Your table setting looks so pretty! Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteYes!! I love that too, Amy. Then I can just keep redecorating the same glasses over and over. Bargain!
DeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!! Another great project!! Love it!!
