Hands down, it's my favorite time of the year.
I make no secret of that around here.
I state it as often as I can and share photos of my beautiful island throughout the season.
For several glorious months, my attention shifts from inside decor to out and from Netflix binges on the couch to book binging alfresco.
For several glorious months, my attention shifts from inside decor to out and from Netflix binges on the couch to book binging alfresco.
Of course, that means I need a good place to sit.
Something comfortable for long periods of time. And being the decor junkie that I am, it's required to look good, as well.
Well, lucky me, I'm already set this season with a pair of gorgeous cabana chairs.
I received them about a week ago from The Inside. A lovely furniture design company that offers customizable upholstered pieces in a wide array of fabric choices.
Including the cabana chairs.
When they asked me if I'd like to try a pair, I jumped at that chance.
They reminded me of the fancy chairs I see at beaches in the Hamptons each summer and I drooled at the opportunity to have them in my own yard for summer.
First up, I had to choose my slings. Honestly, that took me days.
There are so many gorgeous choices, I just couldn't pick.
Then I got lost on their website, looking at sofas, chairs, rooms screens and pillows. It was a little addictive, playing with all the patterns.
Once I focused on just the chairs, I fell instantly for the French Blue Check and Jade Cherry Blossom.
I could've ordered samples, but being an impatient decorator I went with my gut and settled on Multi Bamboo Garden - hello, red flowers - to coordinate with my patio furniture and umbrellas. It was a safe bet.
However with so many pretty designs, this fabric junkie couldn't stop at just one, so I also ordered Porcelain Austin Stripe, as well. Yes, it's blue, I know, but I thought it would be stunning on the beach.
Spoiler alert. I wasn't wrong.
Once I decided on slings, the chairs showed up quickly and were assembled in minutes.
Truth be told, there wasn't really any assembly.
I just opened the boxes, popped the chair open and put the slings on, which took me less than a minute to do. The frames are quite sturdy and made in the US.
To add the slings, I just threaded one end of the fabric through the opening at the top of the chair.
And slid one of the two included dowels, they call it them retaining rods, into the pocket.
Then I repeated the same process on the bottom of the chair. That's it.
The dowels lock the slings in place when you sit down. It's an ingenious design that makes it easy to swap out slings in a jiffy.
Like I said, there are so many lovely choices and you can purchase replacement slings.
And that's awesome, especially if you like to change your decor often...not that I know anyone like that.
The chairs were so comfortable, I spent the rest of the day in one, reading magazines by the pool. My daughter quickly claimed the other.
The following afternoon, I decided to hit the beach with my new chair. It folded up flat, fit in the backseat and was light enough to carry across the sand.
With a little lunch, a few books and my shades, I settled into my chair and like I knew it would, it looked fabulous.
I felt like I was at a resort beach instead of a few blocks from home.
And I'd like to tell you that I read a lot, but honestly, that chair was so lovely, and a bit narcotic, so I just sat.
For a long, long time.
Toes in the warm sand.
Eyes on the water.
Getting a jump on summer.
Ah.
What pattern would you choose?
I love the fabric for your chair. Very pretty, and they are comfortable chairs, too! Now I want to book a trip to the beach!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ricki! I have to say I love the chairs and the fabrics. Honestly, I may order a few more slings...just for fun!
DeleteI love this and the fabric you chose. I love them both and these look so comfortable.
ReplyDeleteThey are super comfortable, Cindy! I’m eyeing that seat in the yard right now. Looking forward to a little sitting time this afternoon.
DeleteOhhhhhh so jealous of how close you are to the water. Ahhhh to sit and relax and close your eyes in the sunshine and listen to the sea. These chairs not only look comfy but are so pretty and easy to clean and store. Love them. Enjoy the beach and your pool. Yay for summer.
ReplyDeletexoxo Kris
Aren't they pretty, Kris? And there are so many choices. I have to say that during the months we're trapped inside by Mother Nature, I hardly ever sit. I'm always cleaning, cooking, doing...but in the summer, I definitely make time to relax. Now I have a great place to do that. xxoo
DeleteThese are the cutest. I love the fabric and explaining how they are made. I need!
ReplyDeleteRegina, I am in love. I can't believe how comfortable they are and how sturdy. I highly recommend.
DeleteWhat a dream to be near the water. I just love the look of the fabric on the chair! Beautiful pattern!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! We adore the beach and these chairs just up the ante. 😉
DeleteI love both the design of the chair and the fabric you chose for the sling. You are going to enjoy using these this summer!
ReplyDeleteThanks Paula! I absolutely love them and the slings are even prettier in person.
DeleteLove them both but the blue stripe is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteThat’s my favorite, too, Penny! Shhh…😉
DeleteI love the summer too Kim and it's my favorite time of year! I LOVE those chairs and you picked the perfect fabrics out. I would have a difficult time trying to figure that one out as there are so many fabrics to choose from. Enjoy the summer with your new chairs Kim!
ReplyDeleteIt was tough, Julie!! There are so many very lovely fabrics. I might have to go back and order a few more.
DeleteThese are so pretty! Perfect pattern for summer.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Libbie! They are just as pretty to look at as they are comfortable.
DeleteIt looks so cute. Will have to get one when I have my knees fixed. It looks so comfy. I love the beach, but also love a nice shaded space when the heat is on.
ReplyDeleteThanks Betty! I’ve become a shade lover in recent years myself. It was cool the other day on the beach, but come true summer, I’m never there without an umbrella. It’s a long way from the Bain De Soleil high school tanning days, that’s for sure!!
DeleteOooh! They are classics! I would have a terrible time choosing a fabric, but you did great!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mari! There are A LOT of them, that's for sure.
DeleteI do love a comfy chair - I am partial to florals, though. Sitting in a chair, enjoying the breezes, wine glass in hand...heaven.
ReplyDeleteLight enough to carry to the winery, Gina! Just sayin! 😉
DeleteOoh! Those chairs are gorgeous! My old beach chair is going to feel a little under dressed if I meet you at the beach!
ReplyDeleteI would probably choose a floral pattern, but that blue stripe is beautiful too. Oh decisions!
ReplyDeleteThat stripe is really stunning in person. I’ve been leaning towards a lot of blue this season. I think that’s your fault…I mean influence. Hahaha. 😜
DeleteThose chairs look great! I think I might have trouble getting up out of the chair!
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing, Deanna! I was pleasantly surprised that it was not the case. Maybe I'm ready for a few of those planks after all. Haha! No.
DeleteVery cool! I love that chair so much. Fun fabrics!
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics are great, Stacey. So many to choose from and very comfortable.
DeleteThese chairs look perfect and especially for the beach! Pinned!
ReplyDeleteThey really are perfect, Cindy!!
DeleteDining alfresco is just the best! This chair is so pretty, and I love that you can customize it!
ReplyDeleteThe customizing feature is amazing, I totally agree. I had so much fun playing with the patterns.
DeleteLOVE the chairs. I need to come for a visit, the pool and the beach!!! We can talk and talk and solve the worlds problems... I know we can do that. ;-) But will anyone listen to our solutions. HA!
ReplyDeletePinning!
Come on over, Carla! I think we could make a small dent at least. 😉
DeleteKim, those are little beauties. I like your choices of fabric and how pretty they look and your photos are wonderful. Makes me feel like all I have to do is take a seat! It makes me miss the beach where I grew up, almost!! Just lovely..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteThey really are beautiful, Judy! They made me feel like I was on vacation on my little beach. It was wonderful to just sit in my fancy chair! It was lovely...xxoo
