I know, I know, I'm usually all about summer until old Mother Nature and the calendar force autumn on me, but this year, I'm diving in a few days early.
Crazy, I know.
But I have a good reason.
But I have a good reason.
You see this year, I was asked to join the Fall Ideas Tour hosted by Angie at Postcards From The Ridge.
I was so excited to participate that I decided to try something new and embrace fall right from the start with a little front door decor.
I'll let you know how that goes.
In the meantime, in addition to the pumpkin wreath I made for my own front door, today you can peek at some fabulous autumn decor from my very talented friends.
Simple Greenery And White Pumpkin Wreath
You may remember that last year, we finally got around to removing the old glass storm door and replacing our boring and, frankly, ugly, primed - but never painted - awful front door.
It bothered me enormously for way too long.
It just wasn't indicative of what my home looked like on the inside and I always felt like my house was frowning.
The new door was exactly what I wanted, a bold, blank canvas where I could hang up a statement wreath, without it getting lost against a bland background or squished by heavy glass.
And it's worked out very well so far.
I've been able to decorate with a lot of color, and full bouquets of flowers, but this fall, I decided I wanted something a little different.
I was craving something simple, elegant and almost monotone.
I also wanted a wreath that would allow me to cling to that summery feeling, as the trees started to turn color and lose their leaves. I wanted an accessory that still looked fresh, while the earth around me began to rust.
So green and white became my palette of choice...and lucky me, I found this wreath at HomeGoods for eight bucks!
No kidding. It was originally $49.99, but because it was a little droopy on one side it was tossed in the clearance pile.
I thought I was going to have to hot glue it or wire it back into shape, but turns out, the plastic pieces had just become unclipped.
I popped them back together and voila, done.
Next, I grabbed my green floral wire and anchored several mini white pumpkins in place. Those tiny picks were less than .70 each at the craft store.
I love a good preseason sale.
I was going to use hot glue on them, too, but with wire alone the pumpkins can be easily removed allowing me to reuse the wreath in another season.
And I will.
I purchased a new black rubber scrolled mat and dragged a planter from the backyard up front for a little extra pop. Pretty soon, I'll place a pumpkin planter in it and I'll really be set.
I think the entire ensemble suits my 1920's beach cottage well.
Precisely what I had envisioned.
Simple, elegant, understated.
And just enough fall for this dedicated summer girl.

You got such a steal on your wreath base and it's going to be so easy to use this wreath in any season by changing out what you wire to it. DeleteI feel your old front door pain! I still have the old, yucky 60's version that's orangy wood with a horrible forest green storm door that has a horizontal thingy. Makes for terrible blog material. I dream of a nice, black new door like yours! I love the simplicity of the white pumpkins on the green. So fresh against the black door, and just a hint of fall!

DeleteSo many great tips for creating the great fall curb appeal. I love the way your wreath pops against your black door. I miss my back door on my other home for that very reason. I find that glass doors present so many other issues like seeing the mechanics on the backside of a wreath, lol.
