Custom Canvas Photo

When I was a little girl, taking pictures was a really big deal. First of all you needed an actual camera....imagine that. Then you needed film, flash bulbs or cubes and lastly, you had to have the film developed if you ever wanted to see your actual shots.

It was a pricey endeavor, so taking pictures was for special occasions only.

*www.CanvasDiscount.com provided me with this lovely canvas print, but, as always, all opinions are my very own.

It all probably seems a little archaic now, and I'm clearly dating myself, but I have to say, I think I liked that way a little bit better.

Oh sure, I love my cell phone camera. I've been able to capture moments that I would've missed in the old days. And yes, the quality of the photos is amazing, the filters can hide my crow's feet and best of all, I can snap as many pictures as I like for free.

However. I think the ease of it all, has made the value of photos a little less special. We take pictures and "file" them away on computers where they sit - sometimes unseen - for years at a time. Our virtual memories.

In the days of film, the photos were tangible, framed, displayed and enjoyed. I miss that.

And I hadn't thought about it much until recently when I was looking through my phone at some truly extraordinary shots I had taken and realized they were too precious to stay locked up.

At literally the same time, CanvasDiscount.com offered me the opportunity to try one of their photo canvas prints and I thought, why not? This could be a perfect way to get some of those pretty pictures in my hands.

Sunset On The Rocks

I knew right away which special photo I would choose and what product. While they have a wide array of photo gifts, including custom photo blankets, I chose an 8 x 8 Photo On Canvas.

I don't have a lot of wall space, but I have a ton of nooks and crannies in this old cottage. I figured that a canvas that size could be worked into my decor and moved around easily. Perfect for a gal who likes to mix it up.

The process was super simple. I just uploaded my photo, chose my format, adjusted my photo for size and centering and I was done.

It arrived in no time and I was thrilled with the result. The colors were true and the frame was super sturdy.

Canvas Photo Frame Construction

The photo was wrapped all the way around it so the picture looked great from every angle.

Fully Wrapped Canvas Photo Frame

As expected the size was perfect. I could place it on a shelf, hang it on the wall, or display it on my kitchen table. That's actually where it is right now, so I can enjoy the view of my husband and daughter sharing a moment this summer as the sun went down at the beach.

Custom Canvas Eight Inch Frame

Much better than stuck in my phone.

Wouldn't you say?

If you'd like to get some of your photos off your phone or computer, why not start with a FREE 8X8 canvas of your own? Just go to www.CanvasDiscount.com, upload a photo, select 8x8 canvas print format and enter EXQUISITELYCANVA during checkout. *Shipping costs do apply.

  2. That's a great photo!
I make photo books of my granddaughters each year, so they each get a book of all the pictures I take of them through the year. My other photos languish on the computer. :) This is a nice idea!

  5. Kim I'm with you. Although pictures come out better today I miss film. I miss having the photos in hand. We used to enjoy them more. We would often laugh at goofy photos together. They were super fun times.

I'm only 54 and don't think I'm old but some of the "old stuff" is missed.

  8. I do display a lot of photos. The older I get though, the harder it seems to do...which is ridiculous because it's not nearly as hard as it used to be.

I keep stacks photos layered in frames then change them for the seasons. I move the summer vacation photos to the front in summer, Christmas photos through the holidays or a birthday photo during that person's birthday month. I enjoy them much more this way. My husband is very good about making photo videos & adding them to our devices so they run through them randomly. I do think I look at my photographs more in digital format than I ever did in print.

Which reminds me....I have about four discs to look through that my daughter-in-law loaned to me. I'm looking for some to print & display of their family.

    1. I love photos, Jenny and I love displaying them around the house. I think that's what makes a house a real home. I like the way you have the photos layered in the frames. I have some like that, too, only I forget to move them! Thank you for the reminder to go move the Halloween costumes to the front. Ha!! And yes, I think we do look through them a bit more, but there are some on old computers or on separate computer drives that I haven't seen in years. I miss the books...they definitely took up more room, but I always knew where they were!! Happy Fall!

  11. What a gorgeous piccy Kim. That one definitely deserves to be on display for everyone to see and I'm seriously impressed by the quality of the print. We're also old school like you and prefer to see our photos on a wall rather than the laptop screen, but space is always a problem.
