Turn a gift bag into a pretty home decor accent. It's a great way to recycle those gift bags or make a custom piece with a dollar store bag!

Hello Friends! Today, I have another home decor idea using gift bags.

I know that most of you are probably done with your holiday decorating by now, but I thought that I would put this one out there now in case you are looking for some last minute inspiration.

Plus, gift bags are going to be on clearance in the next few days.

You may get a few during the holidays that are too pretty to toss and frankly, while I have created my signs for Christmas, these ideas could be used anytime of the year.

So let's take a peek at just one more easy gift bag decor idea.

Shall we?

This one has been transformed into hanging wall art, not a wooden sign. I took the back of the bag that I used in my bedroom, added some ribbon and hung it on my book page magazine hanger.

Super easy, super charming and totally free.

Keep in mind that if you do not have a wooden hanger you could also tie your bag to a piece of driftwood or birch...any branch really...and then tie a ribbon to each end to make a hanger.

The ideas are truly endless. I just happened to be looking at my magazine hanger at the same time I was wondering what the heck I was going to do with half a gift bag and well, you know...

To finish the back off, I glued construction paper to the bag.

Then I looped some ribbon through the handle holes and around the hanger and tied a knot.

Christmas Kitchen Decor Ideas

It's a sweet way to add a little holiday spirit for free...and in less than five minutes.

Fabulous!

Are you looking at gift bags in a new way yet?

And I promise, I'm done with these now.

Really.

Well.

At least until Valentine's Day.

  4. I love the vintage feel of the bag and hanger. Very cute. I actually am going to start some decorating tonight and tomorrow. My kids will be with their other sides and we are doing our celebration at the farm on January 9 and since my tree is real I am waiting until right before the holiday to put it up so that it will still have a few needles left on it when we open presents. So, for me this is a very timely post. :)

  7. Kim,
This is a great idea. Some of the gift bags are works of art in themselves so why not do this and keep them. Great idea. Enjoy these next days leading up to the big day. Merry Christmas my friend.
