Reader Survey

This post may contain affiliate links, which means if you purchase something via one of my links, I may make a small commission.

I started Exquisitely Unremarkable just a smidge over two years ago and have been having a great time ever since.

Truly, the time of my life.

When I first hit publish, I never dreamed that so many people would pop over so regularly to read what I have to say.

But lo and behold, week after week, you're here...and I'm just thrilled about it!

However, in an effort to find out a little more about you and what you'd like to see here, I decided to take a little survey.

No, I'm not going to tell you which Disney Princess you're most like or what animal you were in a former life.

I simply want to know what you enjoy, or don't enjoy, so I can tailor my content appropriately.

I mean, I don't really want to share any more embarrassing stories or poignant thoughts if all you're really looking for is a pretty banner idea.

Ok, well, maybe that's not true.

I favor diversity, I write about whatever suddenly strikes me.

And I really kind of like telling those stories, even if I'm not fond of the incidents when they happen.

However, I would like to know if the only people reading those particular posts will be my husband and sister.

There are literally millions of blogs on the internet today and I dare say that the majority of them are home decor/ DIY ~ at least it feels that way.

With so many quality choices for information and entertainment out there, I have always wanted to know a little more about who my readers are and why they follow along.

What exactly is it that makes you click over here?

So I made up this neat survey.

A few short questions that you can answer if you feel so inclined.

There's no giveaway or prize for your participation, nor will you get ten years bad luck for not taking part. Unless of course you ARE my husband or sister.

It's just a fun little conversation between you and me.

Well, and everyone else next week when I share the results! (The results are in!)

Won't you play along?

Just scroll down to take the survey:

Hey~ before you go, let me know what you think!

  1. Now this is just me. But I like to hear a little about anything and everything. Readers email me and say: Just write about your day. I'm thinking: Well, that's pretty boring. But it's really all in the way you tell it. I love personal funny stories, pet stories, I-looked-stupid stories. I don't want an all decorating, all crafts, all anything. I want to know the person and ride right along.

    1. You are my perfect reader, Brenda! I have a ton of those I-looked-stupid stories! ;) Thanks for playing and weighing it!

    2. I agree with Brenda above that it is fun to read about different things. I may not be redecorating my house but it is fun to see what you are doing. I may not be able to do a lot of crafts anymore but it is still fun to see what others are doing.

    3. Exactly, Lorri! I will never have a farm, I can't even grow tomatoes in my backyard (or houseplants in my kitchen), but love reading about your experiences. Especially vegetable haircuts! ;)

  2. For me it's the personality of the blogger. I read all kinds of blogs, if I feel a connection with the writer, I come back.

  5. I agree with everything written above. I did not know what a blog was until I started reading Savvy Seasons by Liz, she no longer blogs, but this type of blog helped me through a very, very rough patch of life. Reading about others lives and what they cook and how they decorate their homes, also just everyday experiences is what I enjoy. I just found your blog and I enjoy reading what you write. xo

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Kathy. I feel into blogging the same way…rough patch in real life, needed an outlet and starting writing. I had never even seen a blog before I hit publish and now I am hooked!

  6. I enjoy reading about other people's lives - the good and the bad! I also like learning things - things to cook - things to paint - things to plant - things. I love your blog, keep up the good work. I would also love to learn how to sign into all of these blogs - not anonymous - because I don't know how. Thanks.

    1. I enjoy learning too and have always found it easier to learn in a conversational way...maybe that's why I like blogs. As far as signing in goes, I think you can set up a Google profile, on Google Plus or make a profile on Blogger, although I have never done either without having a blog. As for the other options, I do not know. That is why I accept anonymous comments, because I never know who has an ID or not. I also always answer the comments on my blog, because even with a "sign in", most people are not set up to receive email responses. It seems like it should be a lot easier, doesn't it?? :)

  7. Kim, I miss you when you don't post things regularly! (I'm not so sure anyone would say that about my posts, since I only have 1 follower by email!) You have such easy and doable projects, and good stories. One of my favorites is "What others think of you is none of your business."
    Keep 'em coming!

  8. Others have said it already, but I will say it too - I follow blogs because (like Amalia said above) - I feel a connection with the writer, and can identify with them in some way, whether it be decorating, homemaking, gardening, food, or just a great personality that comes through in the writing. So Kim.... write as you feel inspired, and whatever inspires you, I'll read it. I enjoy your style, your thoughts, and how you write. :)

  18. What? I can't find the survey questions!! Dumb blond here!! Where are they? lol
Anyway- what I love about coming here is that you are real! No pretenses- you let us know that you are not perfect in every avenue of life (like I am-bwhahahahaha). I like it that there is no "planned performance" that you feel you have to post about a certain something just because it is say Monday. That gives you the freedom to pick and choose what is on your mind that day. Just keep on being you...and I will keep on being me following you! xo Diana

    1. That silly survey is embedded. You’re not the only one, you just have the best excuse (coming from another blonde, of course!). I appreciate your kind words Diana. There is no plan here, that is for sure…and maybe that’s why I am not a big blogger, but I am having fun and I am glad that you are too!!

  19. Hi Kim, I accidentally hit "enter" before the survey was over, but just know that as far as I'm concerned your blog is one of the best out there. Whether you share a DIY project or tell a personal story, I enjoy everything you share. And you're genuinely a sweet and nice person. I'm so happy to call you my friend. Hugs, Nancy
