As this week marks the one year anniversary of Exquisitely Unremarkable, I found myself feeling nostalgic.
And started peeking back, as well.
It all seems so far away now, those sleepless nights, computer crazed days.
I remember setting up my blog, choosing the perfect name, buying a domain and trying to figure out how to make sense of HTML (thank you Alex!).
I spent hours picking a theme, comparing fonts and revising my layout.I hung out online, trying to learn the social media ropes.
You see, before the blog, I didn't have an internet presence.
At all. Not even a Facebook page.
Now, I'm everywhere.
I had no idea what I was doing back then, that is a fact.
Except when it came to the writing.
I have to say that I am as proud of my first post today, as I was on the evening I hit publish. I've read it several times over the course of the last year and it always makes me smile, which is funny, because that is what I had lost and was hoping the blog would help me find.
So I am linking to it here, today, in celebration and because it's one of my favorites. It is the heart and soul of this blog, the mission statement that I hope I have remained true to and, I think, one of my finest pieces of writing.
I hope you enjoy it.
Read it. Loved it. Reread it. Loved it even more.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary, Kim!

DeleteWhat a lovely post, my friend. Congratulations on your anniversary. It's a milestone, for certain. You're an excellent writer and I enjoy every one of your posts. I went back to your first one, and I'm glad I did. Beautifully written, and I couldn't agree with you more. I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes. “As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness -- just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.” ~ Laura Ingalls Wilder
ReplyDeleteNancy, thank you for your lovely wishes and for sharing the quote. I was entranced by the words of Laura Ingalls Wilder as a child. I should reread the books, as I believe I would probably find them even more relevant now.
DeleteWow congratulations! One year is an amazing achievement!
ReplyDeleteThanks Madeleine! I am pretty exciting!! :)
