Whip up an Oreo banana milkshake smoothie for a fun treat.

Easy to make and so delicious. Just grab a few ingredients and go!

As the leaves begin to turn colors and fall and the temperatures start to drop,  Pinterest becomes flooded with lovely pictures of and recipes for hot, comforting drinks.

Tis the season!

And while I enjoy a nice warm cup (of hot water...don't laugh...it's my favorite!) in front of the fireplace as much as the next person, sometimes, even in fall and winter I just want an ice cream smoothie.

My daughter recently whipped these up and while the directions are very basic, it just looked and tasted too yummy not to share.

I would say that I am giving you the recipe, but I am not a precise cook, I am more of an eyeball chef.  I wing a lot of my measurements and add things to taste.

This smoothie/milkshake concoction is no exception.

So what you are actually getting from me today is a smoothie suggestion, if you will.

Either way, I hope you enjoy as much as we did!

In a blender, combine vanilla ice cream (several big scoops), one small container of vanilla yogurt, a banana, two Oreos (or three or four) and a decent splash of milk.

Turn the blender on high and mix until creamy.

Pour it into the glass of your choice and add whipped cream and one more Oreo on top.

If you enjoy Oreos, here are a few more simple recipes:

If it isn't sweet enough already (trust me ~ it is), you can top it off with some chocolate sprinkles.

If you would like to make it a bit healthier, you can leave out the Oreos - but what fun is that - and add a few strawberries, blueberries and/ or raspberries and a couple of tablespoons of honey.

Of course, there are a million smoothie variations and they are all over Pinterest, too.

And I bet those pins all lead to real recipes to boot.

Well, bona fide recipe or not, our little afternoon snack gave us a quick reason to smile, even if we did all have to put on an extra sweater when were done.

It was a super easy, tasty, sweet treat that made everyone around here happy...especially since mom got to do all the clean up. That warmed me right up.

So tell me, is my smoothie suggestion during hot cider season like wearing white after Labor Day?

(Don't tell my mother, but sometimes, I do that, too..shhh)

Are you a smoothie fan?

Happy Snacking, Friends!

  2. LOL, Kim. YOU wear white after Labor Day?!?! My kids think that rule is so old school....lol BUT I DO pack my white shoes away after Labor Day. Yep- old school here.

Your treat sure sounds better than McDonalds' Oreo Ice cream treat AND anything with a banana HAS to be healthy, right?! xo Diana

    1. Yes Diana, seems to be the consensus, banana trumps Oreo and it IS healthy! ; ) I am totally old school when it comes to fashion, hard to get those old rules out of my head! My mom was born in the '30's and she drilled those etiquette rules into us! Of course, my kids laugh at me too!

  3. That sounds so good! I totally think that the banana makes it 100% healthy. At least that is what I am telling myself! :)

  4. Kim,

Firstly, your oreo banana milkshake smoothie sounds scrumptious! I can't wait to try it, whip cream and all, (even though I sweated my butt off in the pool this summer and managed to finally lose SOME of the whipped cream that had crept onto my curves!).

Secondly, white is in a class of its own in the colour social scene, is it not? If you're going to wear white after Labor Day, you might as well paint the town red and indulge in a scoop or two of your favourite ice cream, while you're at it. Somebody stop me!

  5. My favorite cookie is the oreo! And making it into a milkshake smoothie is just icing on the cake. Not to mention that ice cream is included. This is definitely my kind of smoothie...

  10. Ice cream and oreo cookies are year round comfort foods! And I'm old school and southern so I can barely even wear winter white after Labor Day. :)Thanks for sharing your milkshake at Throwback Thursday.
