Winter is a really long season around here, so once spring rolls around, I'm all about bright colors and whimsical decor. Especially when it comes to my front door. It's painted black, and I love drama in my decorating. So when I get a chance to add a colorful pop to it, I jump at the chance. Of course, I also enjoy mixing it up a bit. That means traditional floral wreaths aren't always my first choice .
Crafting for Easter was never in my repertoire, until I started blogging. Oh sure, I colored eggs, however, when it came to Easter projects, in our house, it was all about the kids. And their crafts. It never dawned on me to decorate the house with anything other than a few vinyl clings. Or cotton ball bunnies. Then I fell into the world of blogging and my love of all things Easter was born. Over the past decade, I've made so many darling Easter decor crafts, that I never thought I'd be able to pick a favorite. Until now.
I'm always in awe of people who start decorating projects with a vision board and end up with completed room in one fell swoop. That's never been my style. Oh, I've tried it, several times in fact. My most recent attempt was when I renovated our small sitting room . I began with a few scraps of wallpaper and fabric. I carefully laid it all out, added paint chips and flooring samples, until I was certain it was perfect. Then I actually got it all in the room. Where it was a big flop .
Who's in the mood for a blog hop? Oh goody, me too. And today, it's a fun one. It's got a theme. Our assignment was to do something over with paper. To be honest, at first I was perplexed, but once I found my groove, I ended up giving new life to some leftover wallpaper and a thrifted find. Let's talk about the wallpaper first, shall we?
Hello Friends! Have you heard the news? Winter is over and today it's officially spring! Clearly, this summer loving girl is super excited and to celebrate, I have the most darling DIY. You see, I've been hippity hopping my way through a bunch of Easter crafts over the past week in anticipation. The colors and the sweet bunny faces have been making me smile. So I can't wait to share all that holiday cuteness with you. It all started a few weeks ago, when I came across these festive Easter transfers and I had to have them. Aren't they precious? Anyway, I placed an order and started dreaming about all the things I could make with them...but hesitantly, because as we all know, sometimes when you order online, you get a stinker. However, I'm happy to report that when these transfers showed up, they were gorgeous and worked so well. A definite win. While I admit to going a bit crazy with my DIYs - that's your cue to get ready for more! - today I'm only sharing t...
I live in a cottage and I adore it. I know it's not for everyone, but there's something appealing about the design quirks and vintage details. Not to mention the way the entire dwelling just feels like it hugs me. As a matter of fact, I'm such a fan of cottage living that this is actually my second one. Both were built in the 1920's. Both have been located in the same small beach community. And, as expected, both of my historic homes have had tiny rooms. The smallest being the bathrooms.
When I was small, my two favorite things to play were house and school. I don't think that's a surprising fact, I mean they've always been pretty popular games. Especially among little girls. I loved making mud pies, decorating the inside of my playhouse with loose leaf wallpaper and using that red and blue double sided stick pen. Of course, the most challenging part of these make believe sessions, was battling it out with friends to be the central character. Mom in house, teacher in school.
